EXAM
During my 15 hour exam I continued my experimentation of sewing food stuffs together. I used dried out melon and orange peel and eggshells to create sculputral forms. I then photographed them fresh and after having decayed and become slightly mouldy. I also experimented using lights to create an entirely different look.
Tomato, tomato.

STRANGE FRUIT
This poem was originally written by Abel Meeropol but was later sung and made famous by Billie Holiday. The poem depicts the lynching that occurred in the States during the 1930s. I thought that the poem has some relevance to the work that I am doing at the moment.
Southern trees bear a strange fruit,
Blood on the leaves and blood at the root,
Black body swinging in the Southern breeze,
Strange fruit hanging from the poplar trees.
Pastoral scene of the gallant South,
The bulging eyes and the twisted mouth,
Scent of magnolia sweet and fresh,
And the sudden smell of burning flesh!
Here is a fruit for the crows to pluck,
For the rain to gather, for the wind to suck,
For the sun to rot, for a tree to drop,
Here is a strange and bitter crop.
