TOM FRIEDMAN

Tom Friedman an American sculptor, was born in 1956 in Missouri, USA. After completing a degree in graphic illustration, he then went on to do a Masters in fine art.
It seems, when looking at Friedman's work, he is fascinated by objects that we come into contact with everyday. Many of his works are painstakingly crafted however are still quite beautiful and often humorous.
Some of his peices that I have been looking at include, 'Bubblegum', 1500 chewed bits of bubble gum, moulded into a sphere. 'Cereal boxes', 9 cereal boxes cut up and then stuck back together to make one large box. 'Untitled', which includes 30,000 toothpicks constructed to make a starburst. 'Sugarcubes', a self-portrait of the artist, made with sugar cubes, and 'Hair, soap', including a partially used bar of soap inlaid with a spiral of Friedman's pubic hair.
